Well, I suspect I've now driven off anybody who ever bothered reading this anyway, so it hardly matters. But that job interview I mentioned awhile back?
Got possibly the most... interesting rejection I've ever had.

They told me I needed more experience.

It was an entry level position.

hmmm [Wed, August 6th, 2008 @ 10:49pm]
[ mood | gloomy ]

Ok, guys... guys? Girls? Eh, whatever. Dunno if anyone's even wandered by here in the past few months. Sorry about the total lack of anything in the past couple months... But really, there's just been nothing much to say. My life's not that interesting. ^_~

Anyway though... this one hasta be said. If it offends you... well, I won't say I'm sorry. Sorry, but I'm not. I'm not intending anything *to* offend, so don't go looking for a fight here.

Gay marriage. First off, if any dispute you have involves god, demons, or pixies what dance around mushrooms, kindly keep it to yourself. No matter how much you want it to be, this isn't a religious issue. Churches in this country have always been free to have whatever rules regarding spiritual unions that they want. Seperation of church an state's a wonderful thing, to me. But it goes both ways.

The state does recognize marriages, but it has nothing to do with a church. It's a social contract, which when recognized by the state, carries with it a multitude of additional rights. As I said though, it goes both ways. Churches would be ticked if the state tried to enforce its own rules on them. We've already seen the catholic church's reaction to the states saying that they can't deny a couple who actually want to adopt simply because they're gay. But that's another rant entirely. As I was saying, the churches don't want the states telling them what they can do, on the same token, you have to allow the states to operate without the hinderence of your particular church's rulings.

States recognize marriage. (Yeah, I'm incoherant. Sue me) We know they don't sanction marriage solely for procreation. Marriages that never result in kids stay valid and recognized, and people who have kids w/out being married still don't get the full array of rights bestowed upon those who paid a few sheckels for the license. We can further say that it's not about a loving relationship. Completely abusive relationships still get those rights, but a couple two weeks from the wedding don't. So, why does the state recognize marriage? I can't rightly say.

What I *cna* say, however, is that they're being discriminatory in regards to their distribution of the licenses. I for one can't fathom why the state feels that a married couple needs to be comprised of two, and exactly two, sexes, between two people. What of the people who simply don't fit into that particular category? They're being screwed over here, and it's high time the state started accepting that being attracted to people with the same set of gonads doesn't make you less than human.

Sooo... faeries. Do they always put peanut butter on their scrambled eggs, or is that mainly a christmas and easter thing? For that matter, do they have an agreed upon preference of creamy or chunky?

*Are* there any sexual activities that are simply wrong? Or, assuming one doesn't hold to universal truths about these things, are there any that are universally reviled?

Myself, I draw the line at strapping an oversized dildo to the horn of a charging rhinocerous.

Why have cloaks gone out of style? Fine garments those things, particularly the ones with huge hoods.

Why do people wear mustaches?

And... why are ponytails just so damned cute??

Ok... I can't recall how much any of you are aware regarding this'n...
Basicly though, Corning has decided they wanna interview me, and to that end, are flying me to one of their facilities, well... tomorrow. I'll arrive late thursday, and have to visit w/ em early on friday.

Here's the catch though... just got the interview schedule...
There's *eight* interviews. In a row. They've set aside FOUR HOURS for this!
Three engineers, three managers, a drafter, and an HR specialist...

I'm doomed...

Well, since a certain person was pestering me to do this, I guess I may's well. Not really awake enough yet to do much of anything else, anyway. Anyrate, had that phone interview yesterday. Or rather "interview". I really think it was more a formality to weed out people who get tired of the idea w/in a week before they spend money to fly you up to talk in person.

So, yeah. Still waiting to hear back from em regarding travel arrangements, but they're gonna try to fly me up AND back on the 26th. Was kinda hoping that I could get a rental car on their dime for a few days so I could visit me bro though. ^_^

Ah well, if they do hire me, that'll put me about an hour away from him. Would prefer upstate NY somewhere... but I can do that next year when the prize patrol gives me that $5K a week for life. ^_~

Ok, guys, hardly anyone is on AIM right now to pester about this, so all (3?) of you are gonna get it. ^_^

Was doin my online jub hunting earlier today, tossing out resumes an such... got a call from a place that I'd sent one to w/in an hour... and while they may want to do a quick phone interview, they're quite willing to fly me up next week for one in person. ^_^

Well... I'm not sure what to say. Surely nothing that hasn't been said already. I'll admit it, apart from the old Gold Box games, and a tiny sliver of Baldur's Gate, I just never played D&D. I never had anything against it, quite the contrary, I loved the very concept. Just never had a group to play with.
But still... what can be said? The man had a profound effect on the culture of our time. Even people like me, who never partook directly, have benefitted from the plethora of entertainments his idea spawned. Well...
Best I can say, is that all of you should go read the current Order of the Stick. http://www.giantitp.com/cgi-bin/GiantITP/ootscript If they've put a new one up, just hit previous strip till you find the right one. You'll know it when you see it, and frankly, it says it better'n I ever could.

You'll be missed.

Erm... ok, Cable in the Classroom I can kinda understand. Teachers can legally tape the programs flagged as such and keep em for showing to students. Cause it's educational an stuff. Certainly Mr Wizard was. (And the world is a poorer place w/out him....) Anyway though... I'm havin one of those sleepless nights (somehow, despite 7 solid hours rest last night, couldn't stay up more'n 3 hours, and napped most of the day away. was very surprised at how long I was under)... anyway though, jus watchin some tv to pass the time... and I find that, of all things to be flagged as a Cable in the Classroom... we get... The Twilight Zone! the good ones even, the old black and white episodes. Good stuff.

now, for a moment of levity that this particular episode brings to mind:

"There's nothing cushy about life in the women's auxillery balloon corps!"

Charity [Sun, February 10th, 2008 @ 11:38pm]
[ mood | curious ]

Ok guys, lately I've been noticing that some people seem to find certain acts of charity rather distasteful. This opinion from what I've seen, seems to direct itself solely towards celebrities who are in posession of large amounts of money. And more specificly, towards those charitable donations that occur when a celebrity holds a big party, auctions an item, whatever, and a lot of attention is gathered.

The opinion seems to be that these celebs are only doing it for personal attention, and raising awareness of the charity in question never seems to enter the picture. They feel that a better use of time would simply be the celeb giving money w/ no hooplah whatsoever.

So, what think ye guys about this one? Personally I wouldn't make any big deal about money I'm giving away. May make note of it here, but that's alerting what... four or five people? Either way though, if I did make any notice about it at all, it would be in the hopes that others would give, or at least become aware of the cause in question. But I'm also not in a position to be a serious philanthropist. If I were though, I myself would take the long view of things, and invest heavily so that there's a constant stream of money ready to be dispersed and disbursed to various causes. Giving away all your money at once may be a nice gesture, but from where I sit, that's all it is. (And I'm not saying that a total giveaway all at once would be unappreciated, simply that it won't be as useful as a longer view on things.)

Er, ok. I never said I'd be neutral on this one. *smirk*
Toss out opines an so forth anyway.

Well... dunno if any of you guys're fans, and I don't suppose I can blame you if you're not... they never did get the best exposure over here, sadly... and they don't really seem to be doing anything anymore.

All the same though, Happy Birthday Michela D'Orlando! ^_^
